That's right, it's October.

First off -

Fudge!

The Famous Failed Tasty Vanilla Fudge

From Sunday, 18th of October, 2009:
4 cups White Sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup skim milk powder
20g Butter (it was in the fridge)
3tsp vanilla essense

Add dry ingredients to pot, stir
Add water, stir over heat until sugar dissolves
Leave covered until 105C (hopefully reducing sugar crystals on sides of pot)
Leave over med-low heat until mixture reaches soft ball (115C)
Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla (no stirring)
Wait until mixture drops to 75C
Mix in butter and vanilla, pour into tray before it becomes a rock.

Cool, slice.

It did turn out a bit harder than I'd like (minimal butter), but after a few seconds in the mouth it'd melt into this fudgey vanilla goop that's very moreish.

I'll try some more over the next few days (while rounding up Tax stuff)

Rob - Wanted Fugitive

The Australian Tax Office finally found me yesterday. They'd like me to put in my '07 and '08 returns so we can jump through the bureaucratic hoops and in the end have me refunded a token chunk of cash. Can't blame them really, it is their job to track down all those tax dollars to be redistributed to schools, hospitals, MP superannuation etc.

I briefly considered changing my identity and going on the run. I could lead a life of excitement, hiding out for 27 years, changing my ID every 3.... all to avoid my 27 million dollar tax rebate! What a story.

Or I could do my tax over the next couple of weekends... Tough choice.

I can do fudge at the same time.
