From REMCC
Alright, time to start putting content on this thing. It's been around for years now, and it's time to either put things up or shut it down.
And we all know I'm a bit of a hoarder, so there's bugger all chance of me shutting it down!
So what struck me as interesting today?
Fashion Footwear
I was leaving the station on the way to work and I spotted what might have been a cute girl ahead of me. I'm a man, sue me!
She had that not quite anorexic look about her, and had a nice multi layered skirt (below the knee). But then I saw her shoes - they were those... I don't know what the hell they're called really, I'm not a women's footwear buyer... but they looked ridiculous, high heels made of cork with no gap between the heel and the sole (someone help me here).
And just now trying to work out what they are called I come across this that further demonstrates how much the fashion industry hates women's feet - Heelless High Heels
Ahha - a "Wedge Style Sandal"!
But what am I thinking anyway? Are full platformy shoes with raised heels more crazy than actual high heels? Not really, and the cork must absorb impact... But I say heels or flats, don't go half way with heely platform things.
Now those cork things had gotten my mind onto shoes, and I noticed a woman next to me at the lights had alternated white and pink on her toe-nails. To set them off she'd decided to wear a pair of Havanas. I've been witness to women (okay, let's be honest here - girls) going crazy over these. They're thongs (in the Aussie sense - get your mind out of the gutter guys!). You can buy the same thing anywhere for 25 cents without "Havanas" printed on them. I'm a mere male, I don't understand! :)
Trivia
Sam, Sam, Sam... how she's failed us again.
Really, if you're going to collect e-mail addresses of trivia teams then send out e-mail when Trivia isn't going to be on! It's really not that hard. Trivia had been cancelled due to a cricket match at the Gabba and noone knew.
And once again the Bar Tab prize was bogus - we got a grand total of $7.10 from it. Either these things are miscoded in bulk, or someone at the bar just doesn't know how to use them properly.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter... I had a good two hours of walk going to and from the venue, and took quite a few night shots around the river. After 4400 shots with the camera I think I'm getting up to technically competent. Next - Composition!
The walk also gave me an excuse to cash in my free ice-cream card at Shlix. They did okay out of it too - on the way there I found a familiar looking IKEA chair sitting in the middle of a subway next to the bridge. I carried it back down to the strip and it turns out that the first joint with matching pavement chairs was Shlix, so they got one back. I'm going to put that in my "good karma" bucket for the day.
The Bookening
I've been reading the Tao Te Ching again. Google it if you don't know what it is. I have no idea what it's talking about most of the time - but in the introduction the translator mentioned the Baghavad Gita. I found a PDF and printed it out, all 55 pages. "So," I asked, "what are the other 1000 pages in the copies over at Govinda's?" Commentary... lots and lots of commentary. I think I'll stick with the 55 pages, I don't need to know the original Sanskrit.
Now, back to page organising. How do I create a Wiki Template anyway?
